Mauja he Mauja for Raipurians in #InternationalHockeyLeague A small effort can make wonders.  However it cannot make you win the game but it can truly bring out some nice defense which can make you win even after losing. The same scenario was witnessed in semi finals yesterday where Canadians were fighting against one of the strongest team of Pool A – Netherlands. Inspite of being one of the weakest team in Pool B , Canada managed to keep Netherlands with their score low as 2-0. The Canadians must have known that they have very little chance to withstand the strongest team but their energy and body language portrayed the desire to win, and if not win then at least make the reputation of fighters. On the contrary the next match was power packed between two world champions – Australia Vs Germany, though Germany could have done far better. Players of both the team was bouncing on the ground without wasting any single minute for the score still the quality of matches was not good ac

Two contrasting hockey matches on 1st Dec.  Sadar Valalbhbhai International Hockey Stadium Raipur witnessed the two contrasting hockey matches on 1st Dec.  Add caption Total 19 penalty corner was awarded in the first match between Australia and Canada , 17 was awarded to Australia and two to Canada. The entire match was one sided, kangaroos overshadowing the performance of Canadians. It seemed that Canadians were mentally defeated before the playing the match physically. Match ended with score 6-0 , Australia securing 6 goals against Canada GBR fighting with BEL However the next match between Great Britain and Belgium was not less than a high voltage bollywood saga . The two teams put their best foot forward showcasing the vibrant energy. The ground was filled with cheers & hoots. That was actually a full “paisa vassol” match where contenders had a neck to neck fight for leaving no stone unturned for winning. Though finally it was a draw.

Monday blues shadows Indian Hockey team  “Come on India” shouted a ten years old jumping from his seat high when he saw Indian Hockey Team committing some basic mistakes on the field in Match no 9 against Netherlands. Though Indian Hockey team did a creditable job by holding Dutch goalless without committing single penalty corner till the second quarter, but the third quarter showed two serious mistakes which became the big cause for losing the win. In the last quarter Indian Hockey team pulled up their socks but they succeeded only in reducing the margins. Audience waited for their team to bounce back till the end but silly mistakes cud’nt make their dream come true. Indian Team failed to live up the expectation landing at the last position in Pool B. India lost the first Match with 3-1 in India Vs Argentina , Second match was a tie in India Vs Germany  and the third match was again a defeat by Dutch with score 3-1. Where are we lacking, is the real point to think upon.
